Colina Park

Welcome

Some refer to Colina Park as Little Mogadishu because of the large Somali community living here. But this is just one piece of what makes Colina Park unique.  The Latino, Vietnamese and African businesses along University Avenue and El Cajon Boulevard reveal our truly multicultural colors.

We value the diversity of our community. Indeed, we think it is our greatest asset.

But we haven’t completely mastered the art of working together - across race, ethnicity, religion, culture and language. Until we can do this, we won’t become the community we want to be.

This project profiles the people of Colina Park. The people in these stories are immigrants, refugees, and American-born. They are Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, and unchurched. They are renters and homeowners. They speak Spanish, Somali, Vietnamese, Cambodian and English.

And they all work toward making a better Colina Park community. These are the stories of Colina Park.
