Making of the Project

This project involved students and teachers from four different disciplines – Journalism, Art, Graphic Design, and Web Design.  Here’s how it got done.

Ms. Bell’s Journalism Class

• Identified community leaders to interview
  
• Developed interview questions to achieve project goals
  
• Interviewed community leaders
  
• Wrote human interest stories based on interviews

Mr. Black’s Art Class

• Identified a symbolic image from each interview/story
  
• Generated a design for that image
  
• Transformed the image into a public art display

Ms. Lake’s Web Design Class

• Identified a domain name and web hosting service for project website
  
• Designed a web template that reflected project goals
  
• Incorporated project content into website

Ms. Butcher’s Graphic Design Class

• Generated a layout and design for project magazine
  
• Generated a layout and design for art walk brochure
  
• Incorporated project content into magazine/brochure designs to produce project materials
